Description
Signing in the religious environment is challenging, even to the most experienced interpreter. This DVD offers some techniques for bringing visual imagery to the scripture readings, whether the interpreter is using ASL or a form of signed English. Seven lessons review basic skills such as placement, verb directionality, characterization, and classifier use, as well as glossing tips. Two short interpreted sermons are presented after the lessons incorporating concepts learned. The video culminates with a deaf storyteller sharing vignettes without voice-over. Two accompanying texts, Signing the scriputures - Year A & Year C, are available but not required.
